Everyone is welcome, regardless of race, creed or colour. Masons are spiritual, moral people and all are free to follow their own religious path.
We meet on the third Tuesday of every month from September until June. The Lodge doors open at 7:00pm where all Masons are welcome with the meeting starting at 7:30pm sharp. We are located at 5 Albert Street in Sunderland, Ontario. There is parking available on the street and we have refreshments and a fellowship social hour after each Lodge meeting.
A 1903 petition initiated by 14 master masons and 21 prospective members, citing that the hardship of an 18 mile journey by horse or train dissuaded participation in Masonry, led to dispensation allowing the formation of King Edward Lodge. In 1904, the lodge met in a room shared with the Black Knights of Ireland. By 1906, the lodge relocated to rented space at the northeast corner of Sunderland's River and Church Streets.
In 1928, King Edward purchased its current building from the Presbyterian Church for $825. The lodge's charitable disposition was demonstrated from the offset with donations to Sick Children's Hospital noted as early as 1905.

The doors of Freemasonry are open to men who seek harmony with their fellow man, feel the need for self-improvement and wish to participate in making this world a better place to live. Any man who becomes a Mason is taught a pattern for living -- reverence, morality, kindness, honesty, dependability and compassion. He must be prepared to honour his country and uphold its laws and respect those in authority.
He must be prepared to maintain honourable relations with others and be willing to share in Masonic activities.
Unfortunately, many men who would like to become Masons never do because they are unaware of the above-mentioned requirement (that it be of your own free will and accord, and you must ask to join the Fraternity).
As Freemasons, we believe that membership in an organization as worthy as ours must come from a sincere wish of becoming a Mason and not because of coaxing, coercement, or promise of material gain of any kind.
Membership is for men, 21 years of age or older, who meet the qualifications and standards of character and reputation, who are of good moral character, and who believe in the existence of a supreme being.
A man who wants to join a lodge must be recommended by two members of that lodge. He must understand that his character will be investigated. After approval by the members of that lodge, he will be accepted as an applicant for membership in Freemasonry.
